How are the wines chosen?
Wine shop owners are in a unique position for being able to taste hundreds of wines every month. Vendors, importers, distributors, winery representatives and others drop in to sell their wines to us on a daily basis (opportunities not allowed for grocery store employees, who can't taste wines while working). In addition to being able to taste these wines, trade tasting events and winery visits give us additional opportunities, as do in-shop tasting events held for customers.
Tasting so many different wines so frequently gives us the opportunities to discover the best wines faster than customers, faster than magazines and newspaper writers, faster than anyone else! And when we discover these wines, we do our best to recommend these wines to every customer coming in our shop. Frequently, these wines are rated among the best wines on the planet, with many of our past "Shop Favorites" being listed later on the Top 100 lists of Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator.
These are the wines you'll be discovering through our wine club! The Best Wines on Planet Earth will bring you the finest selections we've discovered each and every month, BEFORE the ratings come out, BEFORE the wines sell out, and BEFORE your friends have had a chance to taste them. You'll be first in line for great wines!
There will always be many wines selected for the club, available to fill the needs of many different club members' preferences. These wines can be prioritized into your queue for future shipments! Simply fill in the online queue response form and your selections will fill your future club shipments when they fit into your budget.
Examples of past choices would have been the Shotfire Ridge Cuvee or Sandhill 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon...two wines which Salut! Wine Co. sold more of than any retailer in the Northwest long before they both appeared on the Top 100 lists for their release years.
